Brief Description of Research Interest:

My current research seeks to identify the mechanism employed by C. neoformans to inhibit the host immune response in the lung and prevent resolution of the infection. Specifically, I am identifying proteins that bind to DAP12 upon C. neoformans infection in order to define the signaling cascade that mediates the suppressive effect of DAP12 on macrophage responses. Defining the molecular mechanisms by which DAP12 signaling is initiated during cryptococcosis will give us a new insight into the interactions of the fungus with host cells and identify potential strategies for the development of new therapeutics against this infection.
